Tips for Flying Into AirVenture Oshkosh 2013 Whether this will be your 30th time flying into AirVenture or your first, Oshkosh-bound pilots are encouraged to view the online webinar held last month, "Tips for Flying Into EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013," hosted by AirVenture Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) Chairman Fred Stadler. Stadler shared numerous hints and tips that can reduce your pilot workload when flying into Wittman Regional Airport for the annual event. Discussions highlighted the special NOTAM requirements and procedures that you are required to know before flying in. Stadler works closely with the FAA to create the annual NOTAM for AirVenture. You can download a PDF of the NOTAM or order a printed copy. All EAA Webinars, supported by Aircraft Spruce & Specialty, are available for archived viewing. Advocacy and Safety Highlights for AirVenture EAA's Advocacy and Safety team looks forward to hosting a number of visiting government and aviation safety leaders who will be presenting forums to the public and attending meetings with industry groups throughout the week of AirVenture. FAA staff from the Flight Standards Service and the Small Airplane Directorate will participate in industry meetings that deal with issues ranging from airman and airworthiness certification standards to NextGen avionics requirements. These meetings are crucial to the industry, as it is otherwise very difficult to gather 8 Vol.2 No.7 / July 2013 so many interested industry parties into a single room with FAA policy- and decision-makers. EAA's legal, aeromedical, and homebuilding advisory councils will also present forums and meet with FAA officials to discuss policy important to GA pilots and homebuilders. AirVenture is also where EAA's councils get together and plan goals and policy for the upcoming year. Please check the AirVenture forum schedule online at www.EAAapps.org for a complete listing of events. Photography by Brady Lane
