EAA Experimenter 43 Paula Crevier of Essex, Illinois, gets acquainted with fabric covering using the Stewart Systems method in the Ultralight Workshop tent. www.stewartsystems.aero The Friday evening Valdez-style STOL competition on the Fun Fly Zone runway gave spectators a close-up view of the action. Valdez 2013 winner Frank Knapp of Palmer, Alaska, takes off from the runway in his 100-hp experimental Cub-type aircraft, which was destroyed by a hangar fi re this spring and completely rebuilt in time to fl y at AirVenture 2014. Everyone at AirVenture is making videos, including the passenger in Bob Trembly's Viking-powered Just Aircraft Escapade. Bill Esker brought his Kawasaki-powered Weedhopper C all the way from White Mt. Lake, Arizona, to fl y at AirVenture 2014. A Legal Eagle airframe built by volunteers is on display in the Ultralight Workshop tent.
